Before choosing a replacement
- Output and logic: compare NPN or PNP, normally open or normally closed, supply and the controller’s input requirements.
- Mechanical fit: confirm the M18 thread, flush mounting and available body length against the catalog dimension drawing.
- Target conditions: send the metal type, target size, gap and nearby metal. A listed 5 mm distance is not a guarantee for every target or mounting arrangement.
- Cable or connector: the named catalog variants have a cable. If replacing a connector model, include a wiring or pinout reference.
An M18 thread and similar sensing-distance number do not establish a drop-in replacement. Pricing and current availability are checked per request.

Common questions
What differs between JTR-18N5DB and JTR-18P5DB?
The catalog lists the first as NPN normally open and the second as PNP normally open. The controller input must match the selected output.
Is every M18 proximity sensor a 5 mm flush model?
No. The 5 mm flush specification on this page applies only to the named catalog variants. Other M18 models can have different distances and mounting styles.
Can you verify another brand’s M18 replacement from a photo?
A photo helps identify the housing and model. Output, wiring, installation, target and sensing gap also need to be compared before any replacement is proposed.
